"The Ballad of Nowogrodek"
The blessed Martyrs of Nowogródek - Maria Stella and the Ten Companions of Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth.
They went to the headquarters of the Gestapo
in Nowogrodek in the evening of July 31, at about 8 p.m. Later, no one saw the sisters alive again,
except for the German torturers.
On August, 1943, at around 5:00 in the
morning, they took the sisters about 5 km from the city, and there in the
forest, the 11 sisters of Nazareth were shot.

beatified in Rome on March 5, 2000.
Theme
The film relates the
heroic sacrifice of the sisters of the Congregation of the Holy Family of
Nazareth in Nowogrodek that made. Them martyrs. The nuns’ deaths are a
testimony of their love for the God they believe in and the neighbors they
serve. This is how the Sisters of Nazareth perceived holiness, which is the
goal of the consecrated life to which they devoted themselves. The film , which
is based on historical facts, will be made in the form of a ballad, from the
point of view of 11-year-old Alice, who survived the tragedy of her parents’
death during the bombing of Nowogrodek by the Luftwaffe in 1939. Then, when
going to live with these nuns, she befriends them. Visualizations of Alice’s
experiences accompany the narrative and create the metaphysical background of
the story. The SS officer who was the Gestapo commandant in Nowogrodek plays an
important role in the story of the sisters’ sacrifice.
My Lord, if a
sacrifice of life is needed, let them shoot us rather than those who have
families – we even pray for this.
